How To Draw and Shade a Sphere

1. Start with paper of any color. Gather your materials such as pencil,

eraser, etc. I would recommend to use an ebony pencil due to it being

easier to shade and blend using this instead of a regular graphite pencil. 

2. Do your best to draw a circle. Be sure to draw lightly for easier erasing. 

3. Darken the outline of your circle when it is satisfactory. Determine where you want your light source to be, this will be where the lightest part of the sphere.

4. Start to shade your sphere from the opposite side of your light source.

This will be the darkest. You need to go from dark to light, pressing harder

and lighter with the pencil to get different values. The easiest way to shade is to use your finger or a paper towel if you'd rather not get messy.
